Snow White Party Inspiration!

I have one month to plan and prep for my daughter's 3rd birthday party. She decided on her fav Disney Princess, Snow White.  Kinda odd that she picked her, instead of Cinderella or even Rapunzel...which looks more like her with the blonde hair and all. One of my friends said she might have picked Snow White because it reminds her of her mommy :) Yes, I'll go with that! So.....I have been putting together some ideas for the party, I want to stay clear of making it cheesy and commercial. I'm going for a more foresty kinda feel even vintage shabby cottage would be cute. I still want to stay with the main colors of red, yellow, and blue though.

Instead of a super sparkly princess costume, what about this retro Snow White frock?

Love this moss covered letter with burlap bow! Going to try and make this.

Cake pops are all the rage! These apple pops would be perfect by Cake Pops by Xpressive Designs.

This would be a fun activity, a cardboard cottage that the kids can draw on.

I have many more ideas but I don't want to spill them all and ruin the surprise! You'll have to check back mid-September for the actual party pics :)

You can check out my full Pin-spiration board on Pinterest here.

Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome! Do you have a party you want to share? Post the link so I can check it out. I LOVE LOVE LOVE looking at pretty party pics!!

Summer nights

Most of our summer nights have been spent at the pool. We've gone through 4 bottle of sunscreen. So sad it is slowly coming to an end.

French Dip Sandwiches {Crock Pot Recipe}

I found this crock pot recipes via a great website called Our Best Bites. I found it one day looking for new dinner ideas.  Its nicely organized and has easy things that even someone like me can cook! Although, its pretty hard to mess up a crock pot meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 2.5-3 lb. beef roast (you can use a frozen roast if you want)
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 1-ounce packages dry onion soup mix
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 cans beef broth
  • 6-8 large buns (or more...6 would be VERY generous servings!)Swiss, provolone, or mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced.

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat and rub roast with salt and pepper.

When very hot, carefully place roast in pan and sear on all sides. You're not cooking the meat, you're just browning it quickly on all sides to add flavor and seal in the juices.

Place in crockpot and sprinkle with onion soup mixes. Pour water and beef broth over roast.

Cook 8-10 hours on low or cook 4-5 hours on high and another 3-4 hours on low. It's hard to screw this part up; basically, the longer it cooks, the more tender it will be. But you know it's done when you pop a fork in it and the meat just falls apart. When meat is ready, shred with a fork.

Place meat in crusty rolls. Top with cheese and broil open-faced in the oven or toaster oven for a few minutes, until bread is golden and cheese is melty. Ladle juices into small cups for dipping and enjoy!

Insta-Friday

Here is my week in pictures via my new Android phone! I love it even more than the iPhone.

My girls playing nice with their DS. AWW, I cherish those sweet moments!

Stopped in a super cute cupcake store called SAS Cupcakes.  Don't they look soo pretty! They also do birthday parties there too! Hmmm....keeping that idea in my back pocket.

Because its too hot out, we went the McDonalds to play in their awesome playground.

.....and to get this little blue guy who is no where to be found now. Probably somewhere in between car seats.

Me & the hubs checking out the reversible camera. Lovin' it!

We stepped out in the rainy weather for a yummy steak burrito lunch at Salsaritas.

My daughter loves to look around in the jewelry section at Target. She found this cute headband on clearance. Momma taught her well!

Enjoy the weekend :)

Chins up! {How to look better in photos}

Do you hate getting your picture taken because you never like how you look in them?!? This post is here to save the day! I have learned a little secret that actually a lot people dont know about. I was surprised while out with a bunch of girlfriends and we busted out the camera, everyone was not happy about the way they looked. They were hatin' on me because I was coming out pretty darn good! :) I instantly perked up and said "Chins up!"  When we take pictures of ourselves and especially with groups of people we tend to do the old hug around the neck thingy which makes us lean back and gives many people a double chin. No, no, no....we can certainly show how much we love our friends with a hug but friends don't let friends take bad photos! So, here is it plain and simple...Keep your chins up and out! Now don't go crazy with this....We often lean back when we smile and this give the illusion of a double chin. Not sure about you, but no me gusta! (I don't like it). So all you need to do is remember to keep your chin a little forward. It's hard to explain in words so I will show you an example below:

So as you can see in the first (top left photo) I'm giving a big smile which is giving me a awful double chin! EWW! Then next one is a little better, see how my chin is more forward, then the next one is a little more exaggerated. LOOK! No more double chin, all you can see is a nice jaw line. And finally, if you can also move the camera a little higher which makes you automatically look up.

So there you have it! Go out and practice :)

Target Clearance! {Fabulous Find}

While I was at Target getting my laundry detergent today...I happen to pass by the home goods section & found this angled white drink bin for 75% off. Guess how much....wait for it.....$3.74! This is a great steal! Perfect for parties. They also had it in a coral color but I decided with white so it will always go with any party decor.  As a bonus, it has bottle opener on the side handle.  Score!
